Who Are We?

The Junior School is a wonderful place to learn and the children absolutely thrive here executing learning through the local National Curriculum (Necta). Learners join the Junior school in Reception class and are part of this section of the school until the end of Year 7.

Our educational approach is centered around academics and character and we want our pupils to be confident, well-rounded individuals. For this to happen, we ensure learning experiences have relevance, purpose, and authenticity.
Developing the whole child is a priority and whilst we ensure academic rigour, nurturing transferable skills for life drives our thematic curriculum, which is rich in active and cooperative learning experiences for our learners in the lower primary from Reception to year 3. We pride ourselves on how well we know the children and effective learner-teacher relationships ensure all leaners feel valued and well cared for. The family atmosphere at Tanganyika and sense of happiness around our lower primary section make it a magical environment in which to learn and develop.

The upper primary is a hive of activity where learners are motivated to aim high, embrace challenges and learn from mistakes. It is a unique experience for learners from year 4 to year 7. The learners in these grades are older and they embark on a more independent learning journey as they develop an awareness of their own learning and are frequently challenged to set goals and take personal initiative to grow and meet their individual needs. Learners are stimulated to develop in preparation for the rigour of secondary school and beyond.

Pastoral care remains a priority but emphasis is placed on the learners to take ownership for how they treat others and have a sense of pride in what they do. We see no limit to potential and educate our learners to embrace challenges and seize opportunities through the leadership and entrepreneurship programmes.
