A word from the Schools Director
The Tanganyika Schools is a school like no other! Our setting and model is small and beautiful, but it is the people within it that make it such a special place with our learners at its’ heart.
A private co-educational school, for children aged between 2 years and 18 years, our ambition for every child and our philosophy for education is simple – that all learners are equipped to achieve their full potential in order to complete equally in a globally competitive world.
Our curriculum is broad and balanced and our carefully selected and dedicated team skillfully craft opportunities for challenge and learning. There is academic rigor in our curriculum, not just to enable our learners to achieve academic goals but to ensure we ‘teach to the top’ and allow all learners to think deeply through high challenges. Character and values are clearly taught, stressed and practiced at every opportunity to ensure we educate the whole child.
Our learners understand who they are, which allows them to pursue what they love. This learning journey sets them on the path to success in their next educational pursuits, their university choices and their career paths. Parents are an integral part of this journey and we work together as a community to achieve our vision.
Tanganyika is its own unique selling point. I encourage you to visit us and learn about what we have to offer, gain a first-hand impression of the school, meet the teachers and our learners, view our facilities and get a sense of our unique atmosphere.
Karibu!
Ms. Brenda
What do we do?
At Tanganyika we offer the most exciting, challenging, yet rewarding time, shaping our learners for a bright and solid future. At the heart of what we offer at Tanganyika, is the opportunity for every learner to thrive. We mold them to become the best versions of themselves. Every learner at Tanganyika from Pre-school through to Year Thirteen (13), is encouraged to be an independent thinker. We want our learners to be determined, hard-working and eager to get involved in everything we offer. We enable them to grasp each and every opportunity, and to be the very best they can be both in and out of the classroom. Within a sound framework of pastoral care and continuous development, Tanganyikans’ are equipped with the skills and confidence to face the future as rounded and grounded individuals. Every learner is afforded the opportunity to thrive because everything we do is focused on preparing them to ably seize opportunities that they may present themselves.
Why do families choose us?
We are a small school, one streamed, a model deliberately chosen to admit few learners and afford each one of them personal attention and ensure positive social interactions. We know each learners ability and this enables us to stretch the most able and support those who need an extra helping hand.
Our Staff
Under the leadership of able Heads of Schools, we have a dedicated team of qualified, dynamic, talented and competent staff who are committed to delivering the highest standards for each and every learner at the schools.
We strongly believe that outstanding staff are essential to delivering an outstanding education. We put a lot of effort into our recruitment process ensuring that we engage staff who understand the vision of the school and will adeptly contribute to it. We then invest heavily in their continuing professional training and development.
Academic Ambition
Our aim at Tanganyika is to provide first-class education, which prepares our learners for the rapidly changing world, and ensures that they have the skills, qualifications, and ability to succeed and thrive. It is our responsibility to ensure they are stimulated and challenged, both in and out of the classroom, and that they develop a lifelong passion for learning.
Our aim is to deliver a broad and balanced curriculum that focuses on building successful futures for all our learners. We will ensure Tanganyikans’ are challenged to be the best they can be throughout the course of every day, providing opportunities both to engage in independent learning and to work with others. Our core objective is that learners develop curiosity, ambition and resilience and are not afraid to be intrepid. Learners thrive in classrooms where the work is intellectually challenging and where curiosity and wonder is not only promoted but celebrated.
Pastoral Care
Our pastoral structure ensures learners have a learning environment where they can be happy, secure, listened to and cared for. As a school we know that happy, cared-for learners are most likely to thrive. Our pastoral team works together to provide a happy and fulfilling environment for our learners. This environment helps to create such a strong community spirit throughout the school. Health, wellbeing and safety is at the heart of everything we do and safeguarding the children in our care is our number one priority.
